The Palmetto Championships is open to all boys and girls whose residence is in the state of South Carolina. USTA membership is required. Players must meet one of the following age requirements:
10-and-under born on or after June 1, 2008
12-and-under born on or after June 1, 2006
14-and-under born on or after June 1, 2004
16-and-under born on or after June 1, 2002
18-and-under born on or after June 1, 2000
Players must play in the age division for which they are seeking endorsement to the Southern Closed and National Championships unless they receive a "Top 16 Southern" waiver into these events. Players must play doubles in the same age division as singles. If players are not waived they must play singles in the Palmetto Championships if they are seeking endorsement into the Southern Closed Championships.
Players may enter more than one age division. Players must play in the older age division if they are selected. Remember, players must play singles in the age division in which they wish to play the Southern Closed Championships (unless they have received a Top 16 Southern waiver) and must also play doubles in the same age division as singles.
Players are limited to one singles and one doubles event. Players must enter doubles in the same age division as they enter singles.
Players should enter doubles with a partner. Because different headquarter locations in different towns (Belton, Anderson and Clemson) will be used, playing up in doubles will create schedule issues. Players must enter doubles in the same age division as they are playing singles.
Birth Certificates Required
A birth certificate or green card must be on file with USTA Southern for proof of US Citizenship in order to play in the Palmetto Championships before the tournament begins on May 24. You can click here to check to see if you are already on file with USTA Southern. If you are not, please follow the instructions on the page to submit to USTA Southern.
The Palmetto Championships encourages good sportsmanship from all players, parents, coaches and spectators and abides by USTA's slogan: "Great Sports Make A Sport Great!" Officials will be handing out sportsmanship pins to players who show exemplary behavior. The tournament presents 3 major sportsmanship awards.
The 12's, 14's, 16's & and 18’s singles draws will be limited to 64 players and include a full feed-in consolation.
The 10U singles will be limited to 32 players and feature a compass draw, and will be played in 3 days...Friday through Sunday afternoon.
Doubles draws are not limited and have no consolation.
All draws will be posted to the internet by 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 23, 2019.
Since the singles draws are limited (64 in the 12's, 14's, 16's & 18's and 32 in the 10's), if entries exceed the number of available spots selection will be based primarily on the USTA Southern standings as of May 17, 2019.
All players who wish to play in the tournament should enter. Your standing may be lower than #64 (12U thru 18U) or #32 (10U), but a number of players have a standing in more than one age division, and other players in the top 64 may not enter. You still have an excellent chance of being selected for the tournament. Your credit card will not be charged until you are selected to play in the tournament.
All players will be placed into the doubles draws if they enter with a partner. Players who do not qualify for the singles draws may still play doubles. Players must enter doubles in the same age division as they are playing singles.
Players may enter doubles only. Playing doubles does not satisfy the requirement to qualify for the Southern Closed Championships. Players must enter with a partner. Those who enter doubles without a partner and do not have a partner by the entry deadline will be removed from the doubles entry list. Note....12U, 14U, 16U & 18U doubles will begin play at 4:00 on Friday, May 24. Doubles are scheduled to be played prior to singles each day.
